The following waypoints will facilitate navigation into Soma Bay's marina, Marsa Tubya. Two approaches are shown for yachts approaching Soma Bay from the South, and one set of waypoints for yachts sailing in from the North.

Southerly Approach - The first, denominated "Off Shore", assumes no clearance of Immigration or Customs and therefore the direct route would be from off Safaga Island and Morewood Beacon on the Port Side, past Tubya El-Kebir Reef (North Fairway Reef), Waypoint # 1, and then follow the Route into Marsa Tubya passing between Tubya Arbaa and Geziret Tubya.

The second Southerly Approach, "Coastal-Safaga Port", assumes a stop at Safaga Port and picks up from the channel leading out of Safaga Port taking yachts on a Coastal Route past several tourist developments on the Port Side straight into Marsa Tubya.

Northerly Approach - The Northerly Approach picks up off the Ras Abou Soma Beacon on the Starboard Side, Waypoint # 1, proceeding South of Tubya Arbaa Reef (East of Geziret Tubya) before heading NW into Marsa Tubya.

Immigration and Customs - Yachts heading to Soma Bay must clear immigration and customs beforehand. This can be done in either of Hurghada or Safaga Ports.

Caution: Care should be taken navigating inside the Bay of Safaga as there may be many windsurfers, small craft, divers and snorkelers about. Usual error will apply on GPS and there are unmarked shallows in the approaches. Go in good visibility.
